You give your all to your organization, your family, your calling--and often wonder what it's getting you. Is all the busyness moving you in the direction you want to go, getting you the results you want?
I've been in the same place. Being mighty busy. Overworked. When I wasn't at my job, I was constantly running and perpetually "on" with parenting, volunteering and community service. Despite all the activity, there was a void, a certain emptiness that I could no longer deny. I had to ask myself some hard questions. Was I being authentic? Was I living a life that was fulfilling me? What was all my doing about—really? That's when I learned what it means to Design Your Destiny.
Destiny isn't fate or some pre-determined gig. Like if your mother or father was a nurse or a teacher, you too are destined to be a nurse or teacher. Or if your family has a history of heart disease, you too are destined for this path. Nope. To design your destiny has nothing to do with history or fate or luck. To design your destiny means that you are in the driver's seat. You have a choice in the quality and aliveness of your life. You have a choice in your focus and where you direct your attention. You have a choice in the actions that create meaning, actions that sustain and amplify your energy. What it means to design your destiny is to make the choice.
Are you being authentic?
Are you living a life that has you bolting out of bed with joy in the morning?
Is your busyness getting you what you most desire in your life, in your profession?
You have an essential purpose, something meaningful and important to pursue. It's time to Design Your Destiny. Slow the chase, sit for a while. Join me in the adventure. Come.
